Nick Harper brought his 58 Fordwych Road Tour to St Mary's in Chester courtesy of Roman Candle Promotions. The first part of the set recreates the flat in London where Nick spent his early years living with his bohemian parents and celebrates the music of people who passed through it such as Davy Graham, Bert Jansch, John Renbourne, Jackson C. Frank, Sandy Denny and Paul Simon Nick played some of their acoustic classics and told some stories as a tribute to his dad Roy Harper. After the interval Nick played a selection of his own songs.
Special guest Katie Spencer played a selection of songs from her debut album "Weather Beaten". Katie lists Roy Harper and Bert Jansch among her main influences and subsequently her intricate guitar style aligned with some arresting vocals made for the perfect appetiser for Nick Harper.
