Nicole Atkins returned to Chester as a headlining act after impressing us all last summer when she supported Dylan Le Blanc. Nicole and the band produced a blistering set despite the fact that they had problems getting here on time due to a van breakdown in Scotland and subsequently having no time for a soundcheck. Full marks to them, and to the Ed on the sound-desk, for pulling out all the stops and making sure the show went ahead. Tom Blackwell, a firm favourite with Chester audiences, stepped in at the last minute to provide an additional support slot and went down well as did the official support act Caleb Elliot.
